The back story of this fundraiser is of an attempt to fund raise $125,000 to fund a documentary about Austin City Limits TV show. Now as a non-American, I can’t say I’ve heard of it before but I do appreciate music and the spirit of coming together to fund exciting projects!
Below is a little about the fundraiser:
A Song For You: The Austin City Limits Story, compiles interviews, never before seen backstage footage, pivotal bookings and memorable moments to tell the story of the iconic Austin City Limits TV show from its beginning with Willie Nelson, to where it is today― hosting music legends and premiering the music legends of tomorrow.
This documentary is the ultimate archive on the impact Austin City Limits has had on our appreciation and passion for music. A Song For You meets the people behind their celebrity stardom to show that musicians are fans too, reaching for blissful musical experiences. 40 years in the making. Over 800 performers. And here we have it: Your front-row seat and backstage pass.
Artists featuring in it include Dave Grohl, Florence and The Machine, Jeff Tweedy, Beck, Sturgill Simpson and more.
For those who send donations, they can receive various perks. These include shoutouts, posters, merchandise and lots of other VIP goodies!
One of the main reasons for the fundraiser is due to the fact A Song For You has numerous songs and footage in the documentary where the rights to play these have to be paid for. It is also an independent film, free from corporate sponsors.
Overall this such an important documentary in terms of music culture, as well as Austin culture, and it would definitely pay for people to check this campaign out, share it on social media and also possibly donate! There is currently just a week left to raise the full $125,000 or else no funds are received! Currently $90,220 has been raised – it is do-able! We will post regular updates on our Twitter to let followers know how it’s going.
Let’s help them do this!
